The charging port used in the center console it would be better on the side not the bottom. also the brackets seem so tuff yet the holster to the safe is kinda sloppy. Still do love the feeling its locked up when i get out. I had a gun stolen once before and the worries of locking the truck Everytime sucks.

The Reach 2S is an awesome safe. Design and functionality is flawless.
Exceeded what I thought it would be.
I was not sure what to expect when I got my Vara Safe. Honestly, it far exceeded my expectations in its ease of use and how easy it was to install. As a firearms instructor of many years, I am excited to have this to show to my students and something that I would be confident in reccomending this for all of my students to use.
Looks good. Holds the glock nicely. Might give it a 5 of i could mount it. Have the holster but no car mount. Maybe in August.
The safe is everything it's advertised to be. I have purchased and installed two. One is mounted in my truck and the other one is next to my night stand. The biometric sensor that activates the lock is easy to use and responds quickly. They are safe, secure, and an excellent option for securing a weapon inside a vehicle or home.
After a proper reset,it has been over a year! Everytime I get in truck I try it and it has been flawless. Very reassuring ,money well spent.

Reach 2S holds your handgun in a locked holster with the grip exposed. Your thumb lands on the sensor as your hand closes on the grip, the holster releases in 0.2 seconds, and you draw. It ships with the holster insert made for your handgun.
Holster it and push down
The insert is molded for your exact handgun. Seat the pistol, push the holster down into the body, and it locks around the trigger guard. No key, no code, no second step.

The sensor sits where your thumb falls when your hand closes on the grip. It reads your print in 0.2 seconds.
The holster rises and you draw
The lock releases, the holster pops up, and the pistol comes out in a full firing grip. One motion from a dead sleep.
Can you trust a fingerprint sensor with this?
Biometrics are faster than keys or codes, which makes them the right tool for a gun you may need in seconds. They are only the right tool if they work every time, and the sensors in most gun safes do not.
Vara was founded by engineers from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute who set out to fix exactly that. The Reach sensor is capacitive, so it reads the electrical pattern of your skin and cannot be fooled by a picture of a print. Its algorithm updates your stored print every time you unlock, so it keeps pace with cuts, calluses and dry winters. It has been tested with sweat, oil, dust, chalk and sawdust on the finger.
We designed the rest with more than 1,500 gun owners. That is where the exposed grip came from, and the all-metal Security Mount, and the 15 interchangeable holster inserts that let one Reach follow you from one handgun to the next.
Hammers, pry bars and a sledgehammer.
The first job was making Reach childproof: the trigger is enclosed and the lock holds with or without power. Then we attacked it. Reach was force-tested with hammers, screwdrivers and pliers following the UL Residential Security Container guidelines, then with a neodymium magnet, pry bars and a sledgehammer. It withstands over 350 lb of force, and it is certified by the California Department of Justice as a firearm safety device.

Will my handgun fit Reach 2S?
Reach 2S ships with a holster insert molded for your handgun. Choose your make and model above and the right insert is added for you. We list a model only after testing the actual handgun in the actual insert: see all tested models. If yours is not listed, email support@varasafety.com. A close relative of a listed model often fits, and we will tell you honestly if it does not.
Does it work with a red dot, a light or a laser?
Red dots fit: the inserts leave room for slide-mounted optics. Rail-mounted lights and lasers do not, because they add material in front of the trigger guard. For a pistol with a weapon light, choose Reach Tactical.
Can I use one Reach with more than one handgun?
Yes. The holster inserts are interchangeable and extra inserts are sold separately. Similar pistols often share an insert: most of the double-stack Glocks we list use the same one.
Where can I mount it?
Anywhere you can drive four screws into something solid: a bed frame, the side of a nightstand, under a desk, inside a closet, or in a vehicle. The all-metal Security Mount locks into the safe once it is assembled. Add a second mount and one Reach moves between two places.
Is there a left-handed version?
There is no mirrored version. Left-handed owners register the index finger as the primary print, which reaches the sensor naturally from the other side.
Can I trust a fingerprint sensor on a gun safe?
The common complaint about biometric safes is a cheap optical sensor that misreads. Vara built its own system around a capacitive sensor, the kind that reads the electrical pattern of the ridges in your skin, not a picture of them. It matches in 0.2 seconds, it has been tested with sweaty, oily, dusty and chalky fingers, and its algorithm updates your stored print every time you use it, so a paper cut or a season of dry skin does not lock you out.
How many people can open it?
It stores up to 10 fingerprints. That is room for several of your own fingers and for anyone else you authorize. Adding a print requires the primary user's authorization, so nobody can add themselves.
What happens if the battery dies?
The safe stays locked. The lock is mechanical and needs power only to open, never to hold. A charge lasts over 10 months, and the included keys open it with no power at all.
What is the return policy and warranty?
You have 30 days from the ship date to return it for a refund, and we send a prepaid return label. The original outbound shipping charge is not refunded. Every safe carries a 1 year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Email support@varasafety.com to start either.
