Reach for the grip
The gun is held exposed, locked by the trigger guard or the barrel. Your hand goes where it goes on the range.

The sensor sits where your finger already lands. It reads your print in 0.2 seconds. A keypad and a key back it up.

What is a quick-access gun safe?
A quick-access gun safe keeps one firearm locked and staged where you would need it, and opens for you in a second or less. Vara safes hold the gun exposed, in a locked holster or a wall-mounted barrel lock, so that an authorized fingerprint frees it in 0.2 seconds and you draw it in a firing grip.
Which Vara safe do I need?
Choose by the gun. RACT secures a rifle or shotgun on the wall. Reach Tactical secures a handgun that carries a weapon-mounted light. Reach 2S secures a handgun without a light, using a holster insert molded for your exact model.
Can my kids or a guest open it?
No. It opens only to a registered fingerprint, your code on a keypad model, or the key. Adding a fingerprint needs the primary user's authorization, so nobody can add themselves.
What happens if the battery dies?
The safe stays locked. The lock is mechanical and needs power only to open, never to hold. A charge lasts over 10 months, and the included keys open it with no power at all.
Are biometric gun safes reliable?
Many are not, because they use inexpensive optical sensors. Vara builds its own system around a capacitive sensor and an algorithm that updates your stored fingerprint each time you use it. It has been tested with sweaty, oily, dusty and chalky fingers, and every safe also has a mechanical key.
What is the return policy?
30 days from the ship date, for a refund, with a prepaid return label from us. The original outbound shipping charge is not refunded. Every safe also carries a 1 year limited warranty.
