Provides the protection I need to keep curious kiddos from getting their hands on our shotgun while still providing fast access. The biometric fingerprint scanner works better than any fingerprint scanner I have used across multiple devices from laptops to door locks! The unit is super adjustable to work across a wide range of platforms (I just had to fiddle with it for a long time to get the fit just right).
Good versatility for your AR configuration.
I had issues with other mounts due to my AR configuration or with AR15 type rifles like SIG that are different enough not to fit in a Hornady claimshell safe. This provides good protection with max configuration options. I may look into a truck type mounting solution for a truck gun. E.g. mounted to a plate bolted to seat mounts or the like.

Three parts on a rail. One touch to free the gun.
RACT locks a rifle or shotgun to the wall by the barrel, covers the trigger and cradles the stock. Touch the sensor and the barrel lock opens in 0.2 seconds, so the gun is in your hands before a safe door would have finished swinging.
Mount the rail to the studs
The 30 inch steel rail goes up with three structural lag screws, vertical or horizontal, in a closet, behind a door or beside the bed.
Set the gun in and close the lock
The barrel lock clamps around the barrel, the trigger cover blocks the trigger, and the stock support holds the butt. Each part slides along the rail to fit your gun, scope and light included.
Touch the sensor and lift
An authorized fingerprint opens the barrel lock in 0.2 seconds. The gun comes off the wall in a firing grip, not out of a cabinet sideways.
A long gun in a cabinet is safe. It is also a minute away.
The rifle or shotgun you keep for the house has usually had two homes. One is the steel cabinet in the basement, behind a dial or a key, which is responsible and slow. The other is the corner of the closet, which is fast and available to anyone who opens the door.
RACT is a third option. It holds one long gun on the wall where you would actually reach for it, locked at the three points that matter: the barrel cannot leave the clamp, the trigger cannot be touched, and on an AR the takedown pin cannot be pushed. Nothing about the gun is accessible except to a registered finger.
Because it is a rail and not a box, it takes the gun as you have set it up. Scopes, lights, slings and extended magazines all clear. Left-handed or right-handed, vertical or horizontal, the parts move to suit you.
Tested to 550 pounds of force.
The rail is 12-gauge steel and the lock body is aluminum alloy. A locked RACT is force tested to over 550 lb, and it holds the gun at three points, so defeating one of them does not free it.

Will RACT fit my rifle or shotgun?
RACT fits AR-style platforms, hunting and sporting rifles, precision rifles and shotguns. The barrel lock's standard hinge clears barrels and handguards up to 2.75 in across and the notched hinge clears 3.3 in, and every part slides along the rail to match your gun's length. Biometric or Keypad: which should I get?
Biometric is the faster of the two: one touch, 0.2 seconds, nothing to remember. Keypad is the better choice when several people share access with one code, or when your fingerprints are worn from work and read poorly on any sensor.
Can I trust a fingerprint sensor on a gun safe?
The common complaint about biometric safes is a cheap optical sensor that misreads. Vara built its own system around a capacitive sensor, the kind that reads the electrical pattern of the ridges in your skin, not a picture of them. It matches in 0.2 seconds, it has been tested with sweaty, oily, dusty and chalky fingers, and its algorithm updates your stored print every time you use it, so a paper cut or a season of dry skin does not lock you out.
How many people can open it?
It stores up to 10 fingerprints. That is room for several of your own fingers and for anyone else you authorize. Adding a print requires the primary user's authorization, so nobody can add themselves.
How is it installed?
Three GRK structural lag screws, included, go through the rail into wall studs. Mounted horizontally, the 30 in rail spans studs on 16 in or 24 in centers. The printed guide and the installation video walk through fitting the three parts to your gun.
What happens if the battery dies?
The safe stays locked. The lock is mechanical and needs power only to open, never to hold. A charge lasts over 10 months, and the included keys open it with no power at all.
What is the return policy and warranty?
